Baptism
Baptism
What is Baptism?
“We also engage to maintain family and personal devotions; to faithfully educate our children in biblical truths; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our commitments, and exemplary in our behavior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the Lord’s commandments to secure it without delay.
Moreover, we engage that when we move from this congregation, we will unite with some local church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.”
— ROMANS 6:13-15
The body of Christ here at Clarkston International Bible Church (CIBC) rejoice in and celebrate with you in your decision to follow Jesus as Lord and obey His command to be baptized. Baptism is an important marker in one’s life and a proclamation to the world that you have found new life in Jesus.
Prepare your testimony (1-3 minutes) of your coming to faith in Christ. It may be helpful to think through it in terms of how you were living before Christ, how you came to hear about and follow Jesus as Lord, and what is true about your new life in Christ now.

(Matthew 3:13-15) Jesus received baptism, so should we. Receiving baptism means we have identified Jesus as our Lord. Baptism is a picture of our new identity of being in the Father, Son, and Spirit
(Acts 2:38) Everyone who repents and believes.
(Matthew 3:16) Jesus went down into the water. Immersion or being put under the water is the best picture of the old man being put to death with Christ and being raised to new life in Christ.
