Why Read the Bible?

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me (Jesus), John 5:39

and we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:18

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:1-2

Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:22-25

The 3-2-1 Lifestyle

Making Disciples - Obeying the Great Commission Together

Jesus said, “Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I commanded you.”

We believe that every follower of Jesus has a new identity and is equipped and commanded to be a disciple-maker, an ambassador of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).

Living out the 3-2-1 Lifestyle is one of the ways we seek to obey the Great Commission together.

Pray for 3 people who are far from God.

Have 2 Gospel Conversations a week pointing people toward Jesus.

One Act of Mercy displaying the healing love of Jesus.

I am committed by God’s grace and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to obey the Great Commission that Jesus gave His followers. With my fellow church members, I will make it my aim to live out the 3-2-1 lifestyle weekly.

The world we live in is very broken. We all sense something is wrong and this is an indicator that within us is a sense of a “right” (righteous) standard. What the Bible tells us is that God created everything and He created it “very good”. This leads us to ask, “What is wrong with the world?” The Bible’s answer is “Sin is what is wrong”. Sin is a refusal to honor God as God or give Him thanks.

It is the reality that we as humans say, “God, we don’t want you ruling over us. We will be our own boss.” The problem with this attitude is that without God, we don’t know how to rule God’s world or our own lives well- thus the brokenness! We as humans try to fix our brokenness in lots of ways. None of these efforts help though because it is still us trying to do it our way. God is holy, just and right and will not let rebellion go on forever or sin to go unpunished.

However, God is also full of compassion and grace and so He came on a rescue mission. Jesus came to the earth, lived a sinless life loving and teaching us about God and God’s Kingdom and then laid down His very life (died) to make a way for forgiveness. Jesus was raised and is the living, reigning Lord. Jesus’ invitation is for people to repent (turn from sin and rebellion) and believe (trust) in Him and what He has done so we can be restored in relationship with God. This New Life means with the Spirit of God we can live growing in and pursuing God’s good design.

The questions for every one of us is which way are you actually living? Are you doing it on your own or are you trusting in and following Jesus? Which way do you want to be living? What is keeping you from turning from your sin and a life without God and putting your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior?

If you would like to trust Jesus simply say (pray) to God something like this: “God I recognize I am a sinner and deserve your judgment. I turn from my rebellion and put my trust in Jesus. I believe He died for me to pay the debt I owe. He also lives now and I make Him my Lord and will follow Him.

Now, find another believer or believers and begin reading the Scriptures together and obeying all Jesus commanded. We would love to hear from you and help you grow in your new relationship with Christ .
